Primelase® — how laser hair removal really works.
Primelase® is a high-performance diode laser manufactured by the Spanish company Cocoon Medical / Sinclair. The device operates at a wavelength of 810 nm — the scientifically recognised frequency for laser hair removal on all hair and skin types.
The principle is simple: The laser light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. The heat generated specifically destroys the hair root’s growth matrix — permanently. The surrounding skin tissue remains unharmed, whilst the CrystalFreeze™ sapphire contact cooling at a constant 5°C the skin's surface.
Since hair in Cycles As hair grows in phases (anagen, catagen, telogen) and only hair in the active growth phase responds to the laser, a series of sessions is required — typically 5–10 sessions for a permanent reduction of 80–90%. That’s biology, not marketing.

Shave 24 hours beforehand
Ideally, the day before your appointment. No waxing or plucking in the four weeks leading up to it — that’s part of the plan.
Treatment
15–60 minutes depending on the number of areas. Safety goggles, CrystalFreeze™ cooling, you provide feedback. Recorded in your treatment log.
After the treatment
Slight redness may occur, but this will subside within a few hours. Avoid heat, saunas and exercise for 48 hours — aftercare is key to achieving the best results.
Shedding
1–3 weeks after the session, the treated hairs will fall out naturally. This is the visible sign that the laser has worked.
Next meeting
After 4–8 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. We tailor the intensity and intervals to suit your individual response.

How much does laser hair removal cost at alestetics® in Zurich?
Individual zones starting at CHF 100 per session, 3 zones CHF 300, 4 zones CHF 350, 5 zones CHF 400 – for example, full legs and underarms for CHF 300. In the 5-session plan, the 5th session is included. The laser consultation is free. -
How many sessions will I need?
Usually 5–10 sessions at 4–8 week intervals, depending on the area, hair color and hormones. Often 5–8 on the bikini line and underarms, and 6–10 on larger areas such as legs. -
Is the hair gone for good?
Lasers reduce hair growth by 80–90 % permanently. In the case of hormone-induced hair growth (e.g., PCOS), more sessions are needed and often a follow-up treatment is required 1–2 times a year. -
When is the best time for laser hair removal?
Autumn and winter: The skin is not tanned, and those who start now will have completed most of the sessions by summer. -
Does laser hair removal hurt?
You feel brief pulses, like a warm tingling sensation. Thanks to the CrystalFreeze™ cooling at 5°C, it’s well-tolerable – a little more on the bikini area, the intimate area and the armpits, but significantly less than waxing. -
Which is better: Diode lasers or IPL?
A diode laser like Primelase® operates at a precise wavelength (810 nm) and reaches the hair root more precisely than IPL flash light. It is also suitable for dark skin types. -
Do I have to shave before laser hair removal?
Yes, best 24 hours in advance. In the 4 weeks before that, no waxing or plucking, and no intense sun for 2 weeks. -
What should I not do after laser treatment?
48 hours without heat, no sauna and no sports; 2 weeks of sun protection with SPF 50+. -
When does the hair fall out?
1–3 weeks after the session, the treated hair will fall out on its own. This shows that the laser has worked. -
When is laser hair removal not possible?
During pregnancy, with active infection or herpes, skin cancer, tattoos in the treatment area, light-sensitive medications, isotretinoin (at least 6 months apart), and freshly tanned skin (at least 4 weeks apart). Very light, gray, or red hair barely respond. We do not treat people under 18 years of age.
